There are many reasons we do not venture outside the walls. There is status quo bias and “comfort theory,” which convinces us it’s better to stay where we are. Thinking about change is cognitively challenging when we are so busy coping with today's pressures, and as Taleb noted, a regular monthly salary is as addictive as crack cocaine and carbohydrates.
