Exits and Entrances
This week has seen the last posting by Rebel Wisdom. I’m sad to see it go; I’m a regular reader and have valued the insights found there. At the same time, I cannot but admire the grace and power of its exit. It hasn’t failed; readership is high, and the content is as great as ever. They appear to have decided that to do what they want to do next would be to stretch what is so good too far. It’s better to leave what is great intact in the archives and move on to new projects. There is such integrity in that.
It struck me as such a contrast to many businesses and careers. The temptation there is to hang on to them for dear life and stretch them to breaking point. When the inevitable end comes, it’s traumatic and full of blame at a time when, for the most part, the business or career has just reached its inevitable conclusion.
