On my Mind
As we head into a year or more of living with the consequences of unbridled market economics, from expensive energy to a lack of water, driven by an obsession with infinite growth on a finite planet, I have been reflecting on words that have underpinned a marriage that has just gone past its forty fifth anniversary. These words of course are only understood in retrospect (If I was writing a leadership book, I would of course say they are a "secret sauce" I understood at the beginning) but nonetheless I hope they might be useful.
Imperfect
The large pot in the picture is one we bought ourselves yesterday to mark the anniversary. It is hand thrown, and as such is one of a kind. It is far from perfect, and contains flaws that perfect would reject, but it has character and felt like it belongs with us. It was not expensive, nor is it some major brand and carries with it no bragging rights. We love it.
