Appreciating Autumn
The more I have travelled and lived elsewhere, the more I have come to appreciate the seasons in the U.K.
The transitions from the cold and wet of winter to the exuberant energy of spring and the serenity of summer (even with the rain). I love them all, but have a particular fondness for autumn. The harvest, the colours, the smell of fallen leaves, and the sense of the slide into the quiet of winter. The time to tend to the garden, and start planting for the following year. Departing flocks of birds. Shortening days. Warm clothes for the day and fires in the evening. There's something very calming about Autumn.
There's no point in being concerned about winter. It's on its way, not a surprise when it arrives. If we prepare for, we can enjoy it.
