In his book Belonging, Owen Eastwood recounts how, as a twelve-year-old, having lost his father six years earlier and feeling adrift, he wrote a letter to the office of Ngãi Tahu, the Maori tribe his father belonged to, asking, “What do you know about who I am?”
He received a simple reply. “You Belong”.
