A few decades ago, it was a reservoir, and most of what you can see here was underwater. Then, it was made redundant and drained. Many of us know how that can feel.
And this is what it is becoming. A place of extraordinary beauty recovering its identity and unique sense of quiet purpose.
We can learn and take hope from that.
