Perhaps it is the prospect of winter that energies the grumpy element in me, necessitating long walks on misty autumnal mornings with a dog for company to sense the truth behind the manufactured myth: that life, in all its forms, is just doing its thing, and it is down to us to appreciate and harness it.
Our individual worlds are shaped by what we pay attention to, and it is that which is on my mind, or more particularly, the lack of any real substance in the ultra-processed media diet we are encouraged to consume, with its carefully crafted addition of the psychological equivalent of addictive sugars and fats.
It is of interest to note that decadence is the disintegration of a system, not of its individual members. The habits of the members of the community have been corrupted by the enjoyment of too much money and too much power for too long a period.
